Los materiales fueron coleccionados en un principio por Regula Rohland desde aprox. el año 2000 y fueron donados por ella formalmente al archivo en 2021.
Se siguen agregando materiales constantemente a medida que son donados, siendo por este motivo una colección abierta.

La colección abarca originales y copias.
Contiene mayoritariamente recortes de diarios, pero también cuadernillos, folleto de exposición, etc.
Su importancia está dada por la fuerte inmigración a la Patagonia por parte de los inmigrantes germano-parlantes y comprende los ámbitos turísticos, festivales, refugios, el "Proyecto Huemul", las colonias, Museo de los Colonos, gastronomía y habitantes de la región.
